Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 5, 2026
NextGen Business Solutions, Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") operates the POLIRATR™ mobile application ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use the App. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
Our core principle: we collect the minimum data necessary to provide the service, we store it securely, and we never sell it.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account information: When you create an account, we collect the authentication credentials associated with your chosen sign-in method (Apple ID, Google account, or email address). We do not store your password — authentication is handled by our identity provider (Supabase Auth) and the respective platform (Apple, Google).
- Location preference: If you choose to use the "My Representatives" feature, we collect your zip code. This is stored as a preference on your device and in your account profile. It is used solely to identify your congressional district and state. We do not collect or store precise geolocation (GPS coordinates).
- App preferences: Notification settings, content depth level, display preferences, voter registration confirmation status, followed topics, followed members, tracked bills, and favorite policy domains.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version — used solely for technical support and crash diagnostics.
- Usage analytics: If you opt in, we collect aggregated, anonymized usage patterns (e.g., which features are most used, session duration) to improve the App. Analytics are off by default and can be toggled in Settings. We do not track which specific politicians, bills, votes, or PoliScore™ profiles you view.
1.3 Information Derived by the App
- Congressional district: When you provide a zip code, the App resolves your congressional district using the U.S. Census Bureau's geocoding service. This resolution happens through a server-side API call; the resulting district number is stored as part of your location preference.
- PoliScore™ and PoliStance™ data: These are computed from public U.S. government records (Congress.gov, FEC.gov, Clerk.house.gov, Senate.gov, and related official sources — see full list) about members of Congress. They do not incorporate any user data. Your viewing of a member's PoliScore or PoliStance is not tracked or recorded. POLIRATR™ is not affiliated with any government entity.
- PoliSight™ AI-generated content: The App includes civic education insights and official profile summaries generated by AI (PoliSight™). This content is pre-generated on our servers from public government data and stored in our database. No user data is sent to any AI model. AI generation occurs in automated server-side pipelines using only publicly available information. Users receive the same pre-generated content regardless of their identity or preferences.
1.4 Biometric Data
If you enable the optional Biometric Unlock feature (Face ID or fingerprint), authentication is handled entirely by your device's secure enclave. We never receive, transmit, or store your biometric data. The App only receives a success/failure signal from your device's biometric system.
1.5 What We Do NOT Collect
- We do not track which politicians, bills, votes, PoliScore™ profiles, or PoliStance™ data you view.
- We do not build behavioral profiles, interest graphs, or political preference models.
- We do not use advertising trackers, pixels, or third-party ad SDKs.
- We do not collect precise geolocation (GPS coordinates).
- We do not access your contacts, photos, camera, or microphone.
- We do not store or process your biometric data (Face ID, fingerprint).
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information solely to:
- Provide and maintain the App's core functionality, including your personalized civic dashboard
- Authenticate your account and maintain session security
- Display your elected representatives based on your zip code and resolved congressional district
- Compute and display state-level congressional performance rankings (aggregated from public records, not user data)
- Track your followed topics, members, and bills to personalize your dashboard and issue feed
- Display election information and results relevant to your state
- Send notifications you have explicitly opted into (off by default)
- Improve App performance and fix technical issues (only with anonymous analytics opt-in)
- Respond to your support requests
3. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share limited information only in these circumstances:
- Service providers: We use Supabase for authentication and cloud data storage, and the U.S. Census Bureau's geocoding API for district resolution. These services process data solely for their intended function. Supabase hosts your account profile, preferences, and tracked items with encryption at rest and in transit.
- AI content generation: PoliSight™ insights are generated using Anthropic's Claude API. Only public government data is sent to the AI model — never user data, preferences, or personal information.
- Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
- Safety: To protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the public.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase's cloud infrastructure (hosted on Amazon Web Services) with encryption at rest and in transit. We implement Row Level Security (RLS) policies on every user-facing table to ensure users can only access their own data. App preferences and cached data are stored on-device using encrypted local storage (AsyncStorage with Expo SecureStore for sensitive tokens). We regularly review and update our security practices.
Data stored in the cloud includes: account profile, zip code preference, notification settings, followed members, followed topics, tracked bills, and favorite policy domains. All other data (cached government records, session tokens) remains on-device.
5. On-Device Data
The App stores certain data locally on your device to improve performance and reduce network usage:
- Cached congressional data: Member profiles, voting records, and bill information are cached on-device with automatic expiration (members: 24 hours, votes: 1 hour, bills: 6 hours, finance: 24 hours). This data is publicly available government information.
- Preferences: Zip code, notification settings, display preferences, and voter registration status are stored on-device.
- Authentication tokens: Session tokens are stored securely using platform-appropriate secure storage.
You can clear all locally cached data at any time through Settings → Clear Local Data.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time through the App (Settings → Delete Account) or by visiting poliratr.com/delete-account. Upon account deletion:
- Your Supabase cloud profile, preferences, followed members, tracked bills, and all associated data are permanently deleted within 30 days.
- On-device cached data is cleared immediately.
- Anonymized, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be linked back to you.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Opt out of analytics collection (toggle available in Settings)
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@poliratr.com.
8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. As stated above, we do not sell personal information.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at privacy@poliratr.com.
10. Push Notifications
Push notifications are off by default. You may opt in to receive notifications about legislative activity relevant to your preferences. Options include Weekly Digest, Daily Digest, or Followed Activity Only. You can modify or disable notifications at any time through the App settings or your device settings.
11. Third-Party Data Sources
The App retrieves and displays data from the following official government sources. These are read-only data fetches; no user data is sent to these services (except zip code to the Census geocoder for district resolution):
- Congress.gov API (member profiles, bills, votes, committees)
- FEC.gov API (campaign finance data, candidate filings, election results)
- Clerk.house.gov (House roll-call vote details)
- BioGuide.Congress.gov (member photos)
- U.S. Census Bureau Geocoder (zip code to congressional district)
- Vote.gov and state election portals (voter registration and election resources — links only, no data exchange)
- State Secretary of State websites (election dates, candidate information, election results)
- National Governors Association and state government websites (governor profiles)
- Supreme Court of the United States and Oyez (SCOTUS case data)
- WhiteHouse.gov and federal agency websites (executive branch data)
12. PoliVoice™ — Messaging Your Representatives
PoliVoice™ is an optional feature that lets a verified U.S. constituent send a message expressing support or opposition on a specific bill to their federal representatives. POLIRATR is the delivery platform — your message is composed and signed by you; we do not author, edit, score, or aggregate it. Because the U.S. House and Senate require verified constituency for these messages, PoliVoice collects and stores information beyond what the rest of the App uses. This section explains it.
12.1 What We Collect for PoliVoice
When you use PoliVoice, you provide:
- Name (prefix, first name, last name)
- Mailing street address
- City, state, and ZIP code
- Phone number (optional; only sent to a congressional office if you choose to provide it)
- Email address (already on file via your account)
12.2 Why We Store Your Mailing Address
Your mailing address is saved to your profile and reused. This is a change from the rest of the App: previously, an address entered for district lookup was discarded immediately. The U.S. House and Senate constituent-message delivery systems require your full address on every message — congressional offices use it to verify that you are a constituent of the district or state. Storing your address means you do not have to re-enter it each time you send a message. Your address is protected so that only you and our delivery systems can access it.
You are in control. You can view, edit, or remove your address at any time in Settings. Removing your address disables PoliVoice message delivery until you provide it again.
12.3 How Your Information Is Used and Transmitted
When you choose to send a message, we package your name, mailing address, and message (and your optional phone number) into the format required by the official delivery channel and transmit it directly to the congressional office you selected. Specifically:
- U.S. House members: delivered through the official Communicating with Congress (CWC) program operated by the U.S. House of Representatives, into the receiving office's correspondence system.
- U.S. Senators (when available): delivered through the Senate's parallel Secure Communicating with Congress (SCWC) program.
Your address is also used to determine your congressional district (via a geocoding service) so the App can identify your representatives. We do not collect precise GPS location.
12.4 Who Sees Your Message
Only the congressional office you choose to contact. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or political organizations. We do not analyze the content of individual messages, and we do not display public counts of how many users supported or opposed any bill — the "I support" and "I oppose" controls are identical in size, color, and placement, by permanent design.
12.5 Retention
- Mailing address: stored on your profile for as long as you keep it there; you may remove it anytime in Settings.
- Name, city, ZIP, phone: retained for as long as your account exists.
- Message content: we do not store it. When you tap Send, your message is rendered, transmitted, and then discarded.
- Delivery metadata (bill number, target representative, position, channel, status, timestamps): retained for 12 months for compliance and dispute resolution, then automatically purged.
- Consent records (timestamp, consent text, method, app version): retained until you revoke consent or delete your account.
12.6 Your Controls
- View, edit, or remove your address anytime in Settings.
- Revoke consent to disable PoliVoice. Existing delivery metadata remains per the 12-month schedule unless you also delete your account.
- Delete your account to remove your stored address, consent records, and all associated PoliVoice metadata.
PoliVoice is available only to users 18 years of age or older with a verified U.S. account. Privacy questions about PoliVoice may be sent to privacy@poliratr.com.
13. AI-Generated Content (PoliSight™)
The App uses AI-generated content through our PoliSight™ system. This content includes daily insights, civic education tips, and official profile summaries. Key privacy facts about PoliSight:
- All content is pre-generated on our servers using Anthropic's Claude API and stored in our database.
- No user data, preferences, or personal information is ever sent to the AI model.
- The AI model processes only publicly available government data (voting records, bill text, official biographies).
- All users receive the same pre-generated content — it is not personalized based on individual user data.
- AI-generated content is reviewed for neutrality and factual accuracy before publication.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes through the App or via email. Your continued use of the App after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
